Dramaturg call-out
Job Description
We want to work with some brilliant people over the course of the next few years to develop dramaturgy across Wales.
We have several opportunities to work with us, our artists and our productions. Read on to find out more.
What is a dramaturg?
Well, there are many answers to that depending on who you ask. Dramaturgy and Dramaturgs can be very different things depending on the project, the process and specific needs. Generally speaking, a dramaturg is a key part of a creative team focussed on providing perspective, context and specialist knowledge in support of a production and other creatives. We’re open to exploring all areas of dramaturgy, and all kinds of people who could be dramaturgs.
Who might you be?
Someone who loves stories, understands structure, and can work collaboratively with a creative team. You may work as a writer, a director, a producer, or a performer and want to try and develop your dramaturgical skills. You may be an experienced dramaturg looking for the next opportunity. Whoever you are, we want to hear from you.
We have three specific callouts which you can read about below. We’re also looking to meet with dramaturgs of all sorts so we can get to know you and your work and keep you in mind as projects emerge.
Who will you work with?
You’ll work closely with Lorne our Artistic Director; Ruth our Director of Producing; Alice our Creative Development Producer; Glesni our Producer; our artists on commission, and those working with us on future productions.
We have funding from John Ellerman Foundation over the next two years for this work.

We’re not sure exactly what this will look like yet, but we’re keen to meet as many creatives as possible and to discover ways of working together through an introduction to the span of our works and best fit.
