About the project
In 2022, a new kind of story will unfold across Wales. A story told in new and surprising ways, rooted in the people, places and languages of Wales. A story that asks us to rethink what we had imagined our future to be.
We are Collective Cymru, a partnership of Welsh organisations, artists and writers, supported by Welsh Government. Our inspiration comes from the Well Being of Future Generations Act, a remarkable piece of legislation that has been called Wales’ greatest gift to the world.
Working with communities across Wales over the next year, we will develop a landmark event showcasing Wales’ strengths in TV production, theatre and innovation in science and technology.
Over the coming months, we will gather an extraordinary team of Welsh creatives, scientists, climate scientists, technologists and community organisers to create this ambitious project and we’d love you to be involved.
The Collective Cymru project is part of FestivalUK* 2022, a programme of ground-breaking new commissions with the ambition of reaching millions, promoting our creativity to the world.

Our work will be stronger with greater diversity and we welcome applications from those who bring a range of life experiences and perspectives.
