NETWORK PLAY READINGS
LUNG WATER by Chippy Lane Productions Ltd
Written by Jacob Hodgkinson
Directed by Hannah Noone
“I never wanted you to have to go through that when you were, what? Thirteen, no? Thirteen, and me left with you. Stuck. Forever. God help me…”
Lizzy and Carol’s relationship is strained at the best of times. But following a workplace tragedy, Lizzy visits her mother in search of answers. Is it the traumas of her past that have led her to the mistakes of her present? Or is it something deeper?
Chippy Lane’s rehearsed reading of Jacob Hodgkinson’s new play promised a shattering online theatre experience. Punctuated with biting black humour, LUNG WATER is a ferocious family tragicomedy packed with sharp twists and revelations. LUNG WATER was the fourth edition of National Theatre Wales and Sherman Theatre’s Network Play Readings series.
Chippy Lane Productions Ltd. (CLP) was founded in 2016 by Rebecca Jade Hammond, a Cardiff born actor, writer and producer. CLP’s primary mission is to promote Welsh and Wales-based theatre and talent, to audiences in and beyond Wales.CLP is a London-based Welsh company created in response to our research that showed a lack of Welsh work being produced beyond Wales. The arts, in Wales and from Welsh origin, are undergoing change and there is a wealth of excitement for writing, acting and theatre that is new, diverse and vibrant. CLP achieves its goal by building relationships with established Welsh and Wales-based playwrights, encouraging and producing new work, and reaching out to Welsh communities living inside and outside of Wales. “The grass roots of Welsh performance are irrepressible” (CLP in Theatre In Wales, 2018).
