Ellen Thomas - National Theatre Wales

Ellen Thomas

TEAM ASSISTANT

Ellen is our TEAM assistant, as well as a freelance actor, presenter, photographer and landscape acrylic artist. Originally from Pembrokeshire, she studied Performance and Media at the University of South Wales and graduated with First Class Honours.

“My first encounter with NTW TEAM was during my time as part of the community choir for NTW production Before I Leave. Having been hugely affected by disability and Alzheimers in my immediate family, the whole experience was a moving, unforgettable experience which I treasure as being the real beginning of my career in theatre and lighting that spark in me. Seeing the reaction from the choir the show was based on in the front row, was a moment that solidified the importance of access to storytelling, music and community theatre, in my mind; that night was what theatre is all about. After that, I worked as Assistant Director on the Ocean Park Academy Project which really opened my eyes to an aspect of education that I’d not been touched by before, and I am so thankful for the experience. Getting to know the stories of the young people, and watching their progress and confidence develop week-to-week, was another brilliant example of the integral part that creativity plays in allowing people to unlock their potential when given the platform. Now I’m a part of the Collaboration department as the TEAM assistant, I’m inspired by the communities we work with every day.”
