David Evans
Head of ProductionGreetings
I look after the Production Department. We're responsible for everything on stage that’s not the actors, such as lighting, sound, set, costume etc.
I’ve been with NTW since 2011 and have put shows on in trains, on mountains and was part of the team that shut down Cardiff for City of the Unexpected when 120,000 people filled the city to watch diggers dance, Mr Fox tightrope from the castle, a huge inflatable peach lead a procession of vintage cars, dancing roller skaters, and a multitude of other absurd promenaders.
I’m committed to making theatre more circular and am proud of what we’ve achieved so far. But we still have a long way to go. My ambition is for NTW to make theatre that doesn’t damage the environment and perhaps, in time, may benefit it.
Theatre can take place anywhere and our work exemplifies that, as long as I still get that frisson of excitement when I walk onto a stage or what we have decided is a stage I’m stuck doing it because I cannot think of anything else that I’d rather do.
