The Agency has entered Cycle 2, between September and November 2018 NTW worked with 20 young people from Butetown, Riverside and Grangetown to develop ideas for social businesses, the young people (Agents) pitched their idea to a panel in December. The panel awarded 3 ideas a budget of £2000 each to enter a testing phase.
Over the next 16 weeks the Agents will receive support from an associate/project manager to get their project ideas up and running. The 3 ideas that where chosen are:
Green Plug
Agents: Ayesha Freedman, Keo Hutchinson, Chebe Hutchinson
Green Plug is a hydroponic farm business. The agents plan on building a hydroponic farm that will grow lettuce, kale, tomatoes and other produce in the heart of Cardiff. Green plug will also develop growing projects with community groups across the city.
#GlistenUp
Agent: Afifa Ilyas
#GlistenUp is a project for women. Through make up sessions Afifa will work with women, predominantly from the Muslim community, creating a safe space for discussions. Periodically #GlistenUp will invite guest speakers to lead a talk on various relevant issues.
Film Firm
Agent: Shana Simon
Film firm is a project that aims to plug the gap between the South Wales film industry and young filmmakers. A part of the project is a competition where budding filmmakers will be invited to submit films that will need to have been shot on mobile phones. Film firm will also run training sessions and host talks from industry professionals.
