Stephen Grant
Head of FinanceHi, I’m Steve
In simple terms my job is exactly ‘what it says on the tin’ – I head NTW’s Finance Team. We’re a small, yet perfectly formed, team of three people. I take a leading role in terms of longer-term financial planning, budgeting, production of our published accounts, reporting to Trustees and funders and all matters relating to VAT and theatre tax relief claims.
I suppose I first got into accounting and finance because I enjoyed working with numbers. Many think that accountancy is a very dry subject, but done properly it can be key to the success of any organisation – helping it to generate as much funding as it can and making sure it uses those funds in the best way, which when you work in the public or charity sector, can have direct public benefit. That’s what really drives me.
You might want to contact me if you want to talk about the how and why of the way we go about things financially at NTW, especially if that can be of help with challenges you may be facing. I’m always keen to build networks with others working in finance and/or the arts.
I believe in making society a fairer place and making things better for the generations that follow. The French Revolution coined the phrase ‘Liberté. Égalité, Fraternité’ – principles of freedom, equality and friendship (in their many forms) remain as important now as they were then.
